First of all, what is SEO?
SEO is simply the technique you use to rank web pages on search engines like Google, Bing, Baidu etc.
The best way to get free and passive traffic to your site is through SEO.
It has been said that SEO takes time but that isn't true because I've done some gigs with a new domain and I was able to hit 500+ traffic per day everyday (story for another day).
This post is more focused on the type of SEO that last for a lifetime if done properly. Though this will take time to build but every time invested will be worth it.
To get into the nitty gritty of things, the type of SEO that takes time involves two processes and I've tried both. They are:
✅ Writing a lot of keywords researched articles and building little to non backlinks (e.g legit .ng)
✅ Building a lot of backlinks targeted to certain web pages you want to rank that has commercial value (e.g backlinko .com)
WRITING A LOT OF ARTICLES WITH FEW BACKLINKS
This involves carrying out keywords research first on what you will want to write for the next 6-12months.
In this process, you are not targeting to write 10-50 articles. You should be targeting 100-1000 articles. Ofcourse you can't do this alone. You'll definitely need a content writing team that will be willing to burn the midnight oil for this purpose.
Overtime, your articles will begin to rank and attract backlinks to themselves naturally.
This exercise only needs to be done once. After you've gotten YOUR 100 - 1000 WELL RESEARCHED ARTICLES WITH LOW COMPETITION to your blog, all you'll be doing at the end of each year is simply updating them from the current year to the next.
BUILDING A LOT OF LINKS TO FEWER ARTICLES
This involves cherry picking few low - high KD keywords that you are willing to fight for your position to be on first page in Google over the few months.
You can decide to write 10-20 well researched keywords and play the backlink game.
